As the Director, University Research Office, representing the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan, Philippines, (UNP) I had the great pleasure in joining the 09th Global Public Health Conference (GLOBEHEAL 2026) along with fifteen (15) delegates from the School of Nursing who were eager to present their research in this international platform. My role at the GLOBEHEAL 2026 as the university coordinator was to connect the young researchers with the conference to help them showcase their research and to help them gain international exposure.
UNP’s involvement with the conference is a result of the collaboration meetings that we had with the International Relations Division of the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) which is the organizing body of the GLOBEHEAL series. The journey began five months before the conference where we expressed our keen interest to collaborate with the conference to meet diverse partners from around the world. The conference was also attended by the President of the UNP; Dr. Erwin Cadorna as it was realized that this international gathering would help us connect with international universities and the practitioners.

As a pre-conference activity, the UNP delegation was also able to make a visit to the Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia. During the visit the President; Dr. Erwin Cadorna in his mission to promote global health diplomacy was able to contribute as a panel speaker in the international panel discussion “Global Health Challenges in the Digital era :Pathways to Advancing Research hosted by Udayana University. The panel discussion was also attended by the representatives from the academic partners; University of Johannesburg, South Africa, University of Greenwich, United Kingdom, Centro Escolar University, Philippines, Dr. MGR Research Institute, India, and Andhra University, India making it truly a global discussion representing the Global South.
GLOBEHEAL also provided us the platform to showcase our beautiful university and the culture we humbly boast about. We were able to have a promotional stall where we displayed not only the beauty and the pride of the UNP but also the World Heritage City of Vigan. On the other hand, the organizing committee did not forget to recognize our institutional partnership at the inauguration ceremony which was attended by more than 300+ participants representing 43 countries around the globe.
There is one thing that we promised to ourselves; we would return once again! Thus, we formalized our partnership with TIIKM and GLOBEHEAL by entering into a common understanding by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. We believe our agreements should go beyond paperwork to active involvement and GLOBEHEAL is truly a testimony to this. Looking forward to GLOBEHEAL 2027
